This Privacy Policy explains how Margin OS ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you install and use our Shopify application (the "App"). By installing the App, you agree to this policy.

Information We Collect

When you install the App, we access and store data from your Shopify store, only as permitted by the access scopes you approve:

Store & account information — store name, domain, email, currency, and plan.
Products & inventory — product titles, variants, SKUs, prices, and inventory levels.
Orders & transactions — order totals, line items, discounts, taxes, shipping, refunds, and the customer name and email as they appear on each order.
Cost data you enter — cost of goods (COGS) and operating expenses you input.
Connected ad accounts (optional) — if you connect an advertising platform (e.g., Meta, Google), we access advertising spend and performance metrics for the accounts you authorize.
Usage data — basic, privacy-respecting product analytics (e.g., pages viewed, features used) to improve the App.

We do not collect payment-card details. Subscription billing is handled entirely by Shopify.

How We Use Information

We use the information solely to provide and improve the App:

Calculate profitability, margins, costs, and net profit;
Display dashboards, reports, alerts, and forecasts;
Sync and keep your data up to date;
Provide customer support and maintain security.

We do not sell your data or your customers' data, and we do not use it for advertising.

How We Store & Protect Information

Your data is stored on secure, access-controlled cloud infrastructure. Shopify and advertising access tokens are encrypted at rest. We restrict access to authorized personnel and use industry-standard safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Service Providers (Subprocessors)

We rely on trusted third parties that process data only as needed to operate the App:

Vercel — application hosting
Railway — background processing & cache
Neon — database
PostHog — product analytics
Advertising platforms you choose to connect (e.g., Meta, Google), for retrieving ad-spend data

Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data while the App is installed. When you uninstall the App, your store's data is deleted within 48 hours, in line with Shopify's data-protection requirements. We also honor Shopify's mandatory data-redaction webhooks (customer data request, customer redact, and shop redact). You may request deletion at any time by contacting us.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete personal data we hold. You can make a request for yourself or on behalf of your customers by contacting us at support@marginos.in. We respond to verified requests within a reasonable time.

Customer Data

The App processes limited customer information contained in orders (such as name and email) solely to attribute orders and calculate profitability. We act as a processor of this data on the merchant's behalf. Merchants are responsible for maintaining an appropriate privacy policy and lawful basis for sharing customer data with the App.

International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than where you reside. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.

Cookies

The App uses essential cookies and similar technologies required for authentication within the Shopify admin and for basic analytics. It does not use advertising cookies.

Children's Privacy

The App is intended for businesses and is not directed to individuals under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes are reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
